Riley Scott

Communications Director

I am a current PhD candidate in the School of Applied Psychology at Griffith University. My research investigates how young adults develop and maintain their friendships across online and offline contexts, and how context-specific affordances and experiences unique to the digital environment affect how people think, feel and act online. I am particularly interested in determining whether there are benefits of social internet use for the well-being of socially vulnerable young adults. I joined AHDA in 2019 as part of the Conference Organising Committee and from there, moved into my role as the Communications Director for the association. Being a part of AHDA allows me many opportunities to connect with like-minded researchers and to stay up to date with the latest human development research across Australasia. I've met a lot of new people and learned a lot about this field of work as AHDA provides a supportive environment for early-career researchers like myself to present their research.
